Frequently Asked Questions

A notice was posted on my front door because I havenít paid rent. Can I pay next month?
No. Rent is due on the first of the month.
Can I live in an HAHC development and have a pet?
Yes. However, The Housing Authority may limit the number, size, and types of pets you may have, so you should be sure to discuss your pet with us prior to the time you wish to move in. We may also require you to pay a deposit to ensure your pet does not damage your apartment.
Can I live in Public Housing if I have a criminal record?
It depends. There are some offenses that cause a lifetime ban for living in public housing. Other factors that will affect your ability to live with us include, but are not limited to, the nature of the offense, when the last offense occurred, and how long you have been off probabation or parole. Call our security officer at 309-853-1915.
Do you have a Section 8, or Housing Choice Voucher, Program?

Do you have handicap accessible apartments?
Yes. All of our developments have handicap accessible units.
How do I apply?
You may download application, pick one up at the office, or call 309-852-2801 to have one mailed to you.

Be sure to follow all directions carefully. If you need help, call us and we would be glad to assist you.
How many waiting lists can I be on at one time?
You may be on as many waiting lists as long as you like, provided you meet the admission criteria for that development. For instance, you may NOT be on a waiting list for an elderly development if you are not an elderly person.
